Do you have a real heavy pressure plate?

So the cable brakes at the end? Is this a custom cable that you made or do you have the metal end on the cable with the big wing nut?

You can't find out if the pressure plate has pressure on it without pulling out the motor and pulling off the pressure plate and stepping on it to check the pressure in the middle. Sounds like it might be that the bowden tube has too much angle in it. Meaning that it bends up too much. Readjust it and take your old cable and check it against a new one to see if it is the right length for your year. Also, get a better bowden tube. Not a plastic ended one that is cheap and can break. The bowden tube is by your wingnut adjuster for the clutch to the left of the tranny underneath. Hope this helps.
