Got a little done the last few days. I used an early bug steering colunm and lengthened it to fit the t3. Then I welded on a column mounting bracket that I had laying around on an old super beetle column, fits just right on the fasty. I used an old neoprene beam bushing where the column goes through the body and turned it down on the lathe until it fit nice and tight. Then on the outside I used the splined end off of the super column and the steering u-joints, the shaft will have to be lengthened later once the beam is in position. Also got the main hoop fabbed and tacked in the car. More to come soon. Cool

P.S. The steering wheel is temporary.

The 2 main hoops are in and welded. I have been painting the bars before I put them in and all I have to do is go back and touch up the weld joints later. Makes for a lot easier time painting the cage and getting full coverage. Cool

I always weld over paint, it makes it stick better. Rolling Eyes

Im not painting the ends of the tubes, I have been welding long enough (only about 15 years+) to know the basics.

Mocking up a pattern for the rear fenders, they will be made from sheet metal and welded to the factory fender for better rigidity.

Are you going to "Roll the Edge" of the fenders? and how will they transition (for lack of a better word) onto the vented side panel?
