Air cooled T-1 and water cooled inline VW engines have different bolt patterns as do the transaxles. You need an adapter plate from Kennedy Engineering. Since 90% of the Jettas had 85 HP the conversion is not really worth it. I believe some of the T-2s in Mexico were water cooled using an engine and transaxle from them would be the way to go. Installing the complete Jett engine and transaxle will result in one small drive shaft that won't have as much travel as the other side. That side might need a 930 Porsche cvs to compensate. Also different length axles have torque steer problems.

Preston is right... Who needs a trans anyway? Just light it up and GO GO GO! Haha.
