Ok, I'll try it again with a few days time to plan. Who wants to go for a run to Sycamore/Hassayampa/Coke Ovens/somewheres-else this Saturday the 12th?

Reply or PM if interested.
Chris

Doesn't look like I'd be able to go. I still have a lot to do to get ready for the Feb run. It'll be here before I realize it. ! Thanks for the invite though!

Are you talking about Mesquite Wash, east of 87?

We had a killer day! A good six hours of riding. I think Chris has some pictures. We started at the road to Upper Sycamore ran down to Sycamore at the crossing. Lots of thick ice it looked like shattered plate glass. Rather than chance getting too wet riding to Mesquite Creek, we ran the Military Wash to Lower Sycamore and then to Squeeze Rock. For this part before we got to lower Sycamore Creek Noah ran his prerunner Jeep and found a wash between the M.W. and Squeeze Rock. A 100 foot long steep rutted decomposed granite trail kept him from making it. We were breaking a lot of virgin ice. We turned around ran to Squeeze Rock and then where 403 meets the creek he parked his prerunner and the serious stuff started. We made a high speed run to Widow Maker and then down to the Res. We ran the hard to find seldom ridden on trail along the forest/res boundry. Playing on a waterfall I got sand in between the lr tire and rim but it stopped leaking. Of course there were other die hards on the trail today. I literally ran into a motocross bike. We were both moving and saw each other he went left and I right. We talked for a bit and went on. He was quite happy I went off the trail to avoid him. We ran along the top until we got out to the firt trail on the road into Lower Sycamore. We then ran the trail that parallels 87 north to Upper Syc. Chris got hung up on an errosion ditch while I was hung up on the one farther down the trail. I hooked my winch and strap up to his rail and slowly found traction. We ran down to MW again and took Noahs wash and ran a couple washes until we hit Quartz Mountain and over to Iron Wood Wash. Then we ran 403 ( a stop to change my lr tire which by now was veery low.) back to the res turned around and climbed a hill and ended up on top of Widow Maker. Some on on a bike crashed half way up but he had a bunch help him right it and turn around. We ran up a few more steep hills on the last one I ran up one and went around the other side and as I'm coming down a long steep hill up comes Chris from around a blind corner. We lucked out and there was a place he could back up to real close to where he stopped. My luck ran out when I tried another steep trail a few trails west of the original ones on WM. Half way up I still had motor but no amount of working the turning brake could find traction for me. I had a slow ride back down the hill forunately this was a near straight approach so backing down was long but not to bad. Chris saved me when I could not see the trail on the only curve and yelled to turn the other way. We went back up WM headed north to where 403 meets the was and played on the hills there. I found one corner I could keep the rr tire and lf on the ground and rock the rail left right. Noah got his Jeep and we ran Military wash back to the parking lot on the road to Lower Sycamore. Out of six hours we got at least five hours in riding. Chris has built a real nice rail very smooth riding, no weak spots, that eco tech engine is killer and he has matched the transaxle to it so it is extremely reliable. He is building a new roof storage rack that is amazing.

It was a great day! Having never ridden with Perri before, I wasn't sure what to expect. Further, this was only the third run on my car so I'm still feeling it out a bit. As the day started, my buddy Josh and I were bs'ing and having a good Sunday drive. Then, we made it to lower Sycamore and were on our way to Squeeze rock when Perri laid into the pedal! It was then that I knew this was going to be the first real test of my car. Perri hauls the mail! I had a smile on my face all day watching Perri lead us through all sorts of fun terrain. And of course it was real satisfying to punish the cars as long as we did without any issues. I'm looking forward to the next one!
