Running a single carb, 40 webber with oval filter. I use the standard dust sock / cover over the filter but still get dust in the carb . What kind of canister or foam filter would be better. It seams like the rear tires just cause a dust bowl around the motor. Any advice on what else to run.

I run a UMP aluminum canister filter with the aluminum air box. The filter is mounted inside the back window.

Before I ran this, I had a 9" tall filter with a billet lid and base, and an R2C filter and outerwear. The R2C filter is an oil-less filter and does the best job of keeping the dirt out. Not all of it but much better than a K&N. The nice thing about the R2C is you just clean it by blowing it out/tapping the dirt out.

What are you running for a filter lid and base? I've seen the cheaper stamped chrome ones not seal because they're too flimsy when you tighten them down.

I have just the standard filter with that cheap chrome top and have the outer wear. I like what you are using but I have the back seat for my kids to ride in. Would have to figure out and out side mount.

New to the site so trying to figure out to add photos of my baja to the questions.

Thanks for the reply.

Most of us use photobucket our photos. then you just copy and past the IMG code.

My car is full race now, no windows, only 2 seats, etc. I have had my UMP for 6 months and have never had to clean the filter. I still check it but no dirt is getting through. It would be very easy to mount one on the back cage somewhere, I just preferred to put mine inside the car away from hazards (crashing, other racers, etc.)

Dalton has one and it is mounted up on his roof rack, kind of like a jeep snorkel.

.
Unless you need the rear parcel area, put it inside the car.

See my build below.

I have found if you put it inside the car... you will hear the motor a lot more thru the air cleaner.

you are putting it into a open race car with no windows that is why you cant hear it..
