Does it look like a block? if so then yes it's a good thing. if the clicking stops then it's a bad thing. It's a vibrator pump.

Your best bet is to upgrade to a holley type fuel pump as the vibrator pumps seem to last only 2 years.

I can get you a pro comp blue pump with regulator for $70. They are an exact copy of the holley blue.

can you get them ith the built in regulator too?

www.holley.com/12-801-1.asp

Flows 71 GPH at 4 PSI
Regulator is not required

this is the one I use, it's a nice pump and this type should work well in your baja. Like "D" said he probably can get the like pump from pro comp

Well technically the 12-801 holley doesnt have a built in regulator, it just has a pressure limit spring that drops it to 7lbs not 4lbs, and you may still need a regulator for some carbs (some carbs can only take 3psi at the needle and seat).

But Yes I can get the pro comp 2801 equivelant to the holley red pump, They are $59.

PROCOMP "RED"
Flows 115 GPH (free flow
Pressure is pre-set at 7 PSI
Regulator not required for most applications

PROCOMP "BLUE"
Flows 130 GPH (free flow)
Pressure is pre-set at 14 PSI
Fuel Pressure regulator is required

PROCOMP "BLACK"
Compatible with alcohol or methanol fuels
Flows 140 GPH (free flow)
Pressure is pre-set at 9 PSI

If you read the complete specs, it says maximum pressure 7PSI, and this can fluxuate from 4 to 7 psi. The 4 psi is at free flow, no way you can get free flow through a 1/4 (typical vw), 5/16, or 3/8 line, you need a 1/2 line for that. When you restrict flow it increases pressure and then you can run into problems. You wont have any issues on your car because you run a holley carb and the needle and seats will hold 7psi all day, but some of the other carbs will only handle 2.5-3 psi.

"you run a holley carb and the needle and seats will hold 7psi all day" Smile Not true at this time after the car was sitting all summer the needle has dried up, deformed or got stuck in the Holley. Need to pull the carb off and see what is going on. car only runs now when it's floored and gives you a huge black smoke cloud that would make any cummings owner proud. Shut the pump off and the car runs like normal on what is left in the fuel bowls.
