Greetings,

Here I am, another New Guy. I have been reading a lot of old posts and acting suspiciously like a stalker--you know, looking at all the pictures and websites linked to some of the members here.

I bought my first baja when I was 15 (13 years ago), a 1969 with bugeye kit and wide eye fenders--loved all the lights. I have had a couple other bajas as well as some non-modified sedans. Now I own a 1963 ragtop sedan that is currently in a high-tech cryogenic freezer to preserve all the original rust and dents (the one shown on my avatar). It has been a seven year project, basically on hold for the last five or so.

The car has a new 1914 with dual Weber 44's etc., and a beefed swingaxle, which are the only good parts of the car besides the sunroof. My current plans are to chop off all the rust and dents and make a baja suitable for cruising the mountainous terrain of Washington and Idaho.

I found this site while searching for info and sources for parts to install some 60-63 reduction boxes. I am very impressed with the setup used by Bugzyla on his baja, which is what I plan to do with mine. So far this has been a very helpful site.

Unfortunately, I am a college student and don't have a lot of time or money to work on my car (not to mention that it is being cryogenically preserved in the mountains of Idaho three states away). At this point I am slowly collecting parts to build my project.

Lucas

Well, Swine, it looks like you know what this neck of the woods is famous for: Hairy women and Humboldt hydroponics! Yeah, they are both here, but I don't bother with either. It is believed by some that the hairy women are Bigfoot half-breeds. Now the local microbrews are another story. We have a lot of good brews here, and I have tasted many. Very Happy

Welcome! Whereabouts in Idaho is your bug buried? Just curious- I grew up there (well, I spent some of my adolescent years there. I'm told I've yet to grow up!)

The car is in Nordman, Idaho, at Priest Lake. It is pretty much as far northwest as you can go without hitting Canada or Washington. How about you, which part did you come from az350x?

OK, here are some pictures but, as I said, it is not impressive (unless you count the snow).

This is what it looks like before I dig it out every Christmas.

This is after an hour of shoveling.

As you can see, the original dents and rust are perfectly preserved.

Here is the business end.

Inside is actually a new 1914 with less than 1500 miles, except I used some old engine tin I had from some old crusty engine that was lying around. I ran out my budget on the engine and tranny and had to make do. You can also see some evidence of the rodent nest I cleared out.

The car is sad right now and will take some work yet before it can be a respectable baja. I quit driving it because it had a toasted front end with a real bad shimmy at 90mph.

I lived in Southwestern Idaho during 8-12 grades- Caldwell. My folks have lived in Nampa for the last 15 years or so, and are now building a home in McCall.

That car is not a chopper, roll it. I (and others on this site) have had a dozen cars thru the yard, none I have had, except one bus, was worth keeping. That one deserves to be spared the sawsall.
