So here is what I am starting with. Its a fast back in decent condition. Not real thrilled that someone cut a hole in the roof, but I can just have Scott do a toneau cover on it. I am lopping off the front clip and going with a one piece that I have to pick up next week. The rear is getting cut right at the deck lid and will be open like a beetle baja. I am going to cut off the frame head and extend the wheels base 5 inches so I will have more tire clearance, a link pin beam will be added too. The rear will get the 3x3s I already have and the 930 CVs. It will also get a bus trans. Planning on building a 1915 for it. Thats it for starters. Will post better pics later.

Do you have quarter panels skins for it, or just going to fab some once you cut it? I was wondering what you were going to do to that when I walked by it.

That thing is going to be pretty cool. Very cool, actually.

The VW purists barely tolerate Beetle bajas....this ought to ruffle some feathers!

Feh...I say chop it and get airborne. I'll be watching this project, keep us posted!

Not gonna be pancake powered, is it? LOL

Upright T-1 Bug motor. Probably a 1915 that I already have most of the parts for.

make it a rollback sunroof to the base of the rear window! isn't there going to be a open area between the rear 1/4's and the main body structure visible to the back?
Wonder what it would look like if you lopped off the body just below the tailights, trimmed out the engine surround and still used the upright fan?
T3 fastback is the only(common) body style I've never owned.

Well I just like the idea of having a solid roof, thieves cant cut through that as easy as they can a soft top.

I picked up the 1 piece fiberglass front clip last week, and I am picking up another fasty for a parts car this weekend. I just got an 091 bus trans and a 40 dellorto for it. Just collecting parts right now. Once I get most of the parts I will start the work.

It's easy to forget about Phx metro and the crime down here in Sierra Vista. A lot of people leave keys in cars still, you see garages left open, tools in plain sight...all the stuff you'd never dream of doing in Phx.
