finally took some pics. currently working on the cage. i really need to get the fuel tank, and rack and pinion so that i know where to leave room to install and allow for tie rod movement













my buddy's 2.3 conversion, he got married and had a kid. seems like his project is on hold for now, but it is so close to being done. you like his custom radiator reservoir

He needs to move the radiator, the hot exhust coming out in front of it might give you some over heating problems.

it is not as close as it looks in the picture, there is also a fan there that you cant see in this picture either. he's been driving it with no problems(yet, it is a ford) its just not legal yet.

it's the same engine I have. Get the 2.3 mustang oil pan or ranger truck oil pan (Not the cast aluminum pan). It will put your sump next to the bell housing and you will get more ground clearance, than you would if you had a VW engine in it.

that motor came from a mustang II (1975, i think) and the oil pan is super low- the lowest point on his car, and he is still lost in his wiring.

the mustang II is the pinto mustang you need to find one of the new ones. after the II sorry about that, I forgot about them. Look at the pan on my baja for what you want.

YIKES! You cut up the frame head? That's a major support area that I would shy away from big time. Glad to see some plating to beef it up again. Is that some thing you "have" to do to install a r&p?

Looking good.

I to like the CT70's. In fact I still have mine from when I was a lad. Mine's metalic green, 1970's version and she still runs. I take her around the neighborhood now and then.

This is the only way without reconstructing the whole front end out of tubing. The rack and pinion must be low enough in the car to make the tie rods parallel with the ground at ride height. I am aware of the support issues and with probably end up over doing it.

i think i have cut enough out for the rack. just a little bit more on the top center to allow for the steering linkage. then plate off the remaining open areas like i did the first one.
