Post Post subject: Cut and Turn or Adjusters??? help please

Ok I did a search to find how to lift my front end cheaply and have struggled to find actual instructions. I've heard of this cut and turn but have failed to find any clear directions let alone pics on how to do this. I've also seen these adjusters Chirco sells but not sure how they work. I no longer have an easy access to a welder and no garage to work in. So my question is:

Being completely new to VW's... what is the EASIEST/fastest way to lift the front besides body lift and HOW???

This will be a daily driver that will be taken off road in the mountains and through the fields. Will be making a twin to the blue grass build. bluegrassghostinvestig...m/baja.htm

Thanks guys I appreciate any and all input.

If I remember the book Baja Bugs and Buggies by Jeff Hibbard has info on this. My beam has been cut and turned and is a little stiff. Sometimes I wish I had the adjustable setup. Bugzyla and others will have more exact info I am sure.

If you cut and turn or install adjusters you need to remove the front beam assembly and disassemble it completely. Then you will need to cut the center of the beam about and inch on either side of the center grub screw and either rotate it up 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch or replace that section that you cut out with an adjuster and weld it back in. The adjusters are only about $15 each so I would recomend the adjuster route.

Ok well now that makes sense now. Ya I think the adjusters sounds a bit easier, but hopefully it's as easy as it sounds lol. How long does it take to disassemble the front beam and reassemble? I think I read some where that you do this for people? I don't have easy access to a garage since I moved. Last I heard you where pretty busy.....
