Welcome to the site...Newfoundland huh, wow I imagine you gets lots of ice and mud there.

Welded spider gears are generally known as ticking time bombs waiting to explode. What savvy people do here is install a turning brake, so you can load the other wheel to transfer power to the wheel on better ground.

lincoln locker... you probably wont be able to turn it at all, the front end is really light, and on pavement it will be worse, probably break the trans.

Thought you would get a kick out of that!!
I actually visit "The Rock" quit frequently. Got "Screeched In" 8 years ago.
I have made some good friends. When I come up the first thing I hear is,
" How long ya home for, my son? " Most of the folks that I know live north of you. Pools Island. I have traveled most everywhere there is a road, including across Labrador.
Hope we get to meet someday.

A Turning Brake is two hand operated master cylinders that are tied into the brake hydraulic system. A permanantly locked diff is best done with a spool and is only good for straight line racing. Quaiffe makes a torque sensing diff for a T-1. Best place to mouint it is to the right of the shifter.

Perrib, nice diff, but way too pricey for me at about $1900 Quaife applications.

Too bad they don't build them for Nissan Xterra's, but still price would be the issue, but not so much considering the price of ARB lockers and associated gear.

He is in Canada I bet it is 20% cheaper there. When you need the front diff to lock that is priceless.

I worked it out to be around 1300.00$ Canadian without tax for me, still way too much for my budget.

Money no problem. Just buy a failed US bank and get a couple of billion of stimulis money, loan it to the offroad reasearch and developement corporation I will start. Then you can participate in the destruction product testing I have come up with.

Here is a more reasonable alternative: www.chircoestore.com/c...mj87b4l8p6

The short version is to plumb it into your rear brake line from the master cylinder on it's way to the rear brakes. Then run 2 individual lines from the turning brake to the rear brakes.
