Editorial Review:
The anime cult classic as seen originally on the Sci-Fi Channel and Cartoon Network's Toonami - Ronin Warriors tells the story of 4 young men gifted with the powers of the elements within their armor suits and thrust into battle against a seemingly invincible enemy, the might Talpa. It's Round Two of Ryo battle against Sarenbou! Still after the White Armor, Sarenbou attacks again with ferocious intent! Interestingly, he is accompanied by his own tiger, Black Blaze. As the tigers battle, their masters do so as well. When all looks lost, White Blaze saves his master, but at a great cost. Now, even after recovering from the latest attack, a new enemy shows up to test them!
Despite the title, what arises is not armor, but a pack of new enemies. After another encounter with the demon Sarenbou, Ryo searches for swords that match the power of his new white armor. He finds the Swords of Fervor but must wrest them from the demon Sabrestrike. Ryo eventually receives the Swords from the dying Sabrestrike; his tiger, Black Blaze, somehow transfers his life force to Ryo's wounded White Blaze (both apparently drawn by artists who had never seen a tiger). Ryo, Cy, Halo, Rowen, and Kento then face a third demon, Sun Devil, who reveals that Talpa is still alive and plotting to attack the human world. Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers (1989) became Ronin Warriors when it aired in syndication in the U.S. (1995); this disc includes each episode as Ronin Warriors in English and as Legendary Armor in Japanese. (Rated 13 and older: considerable violence, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon
