Editorial Review:
2008 album from this French project headed by Eric Levi. Era's music mixes Classical, Opera, and Gregorian chants with other contemporary styles. Lyrics are often chants in an imaginary language reminiscent of Latin. The music could be described as New Age and may be considered similar to artists such as Enigma and Deep Forest. Their music was used in the soundtrack for the film Les Visiteurs and in Sylvester Stallone's Driven. 10 tracks including a bonus remix of the track 'Come Into My World'. Universal.

Summary: Solid, But Not Fantastic
Comment: I have to agree with the other two reviewers here in many regards. Compared to the Era albums, this one is average. However, that said, I think "Sinfoni Deo" and "Prayers" are my two favorite tracks. With the latter being the better of the two - I've listened to it on repeat numerous times.

"Kilimandjaro" is not just bad, it's jarringly bad. In fact, it really ruined the rest of the album for me. Thematically, it doesn't even sound like an Era song. Like it got lifted from some other album by some other artist and dropped here. The lyrics are awful as well. This track has no redeeming value and I immediately removed it from my iPod. I've never had to do this with any other Era release. Or any other album on my iPod that I can recall.

"Come into My World [Remix]" is okay as far as remixes go. I've heard better.

So, what we have here is two good songs, one absolutely terrible song, an okay remix, and a handful of average but enjoyable songs.

Hopefully the next Era release will learn from the missteps of this one and really knock it out of the park.

Comment:
I can understand the previous review. However a band needs to change sometimes. If you like Desert Rose feat. Sting and Cheb Mami you can feel the inspiration in Players, the second track. The third track sounds Massive Atack and its ok. Listen it and decide. The sixth track, KilimanDJaro, is terrible. Although I put this CD in my collection. It is far from the first Era's album, but it's better than many things have been released.

Comment: This is not what I had come to expect of Era. My favourite cd "The Best Of Era"is far better than this recent offering. At times "Reborn" seems to be a bit of a mix of Sade & Robert Miles. Having listened to it I can say that there is not really a single song that is noteworthy of mention. If you like the more "traditional Era" I would give this a miss.
